About the event
Join Kirsten as you navigate the basic introductory techniques for learning to crochet.Â
Note - this is a blended class featuring both brand new beginners as well as "step 2" crocheters who have already completed our introduction class, or have more advanced skills (completion of the introduction class is not necessary). Step 2 crocheters are welcome to bring a pattern they are working on and will receive instruction and assistance with completing the pattern.Â
We'll start right at the beginning - how to hold a hook - and work our way through basic stitches and techniques needed to master beginner crochet. By the end of the 6 week program, you will be able to confidently complete a standard dish cloth (and more!).
- Classes run for 6 weeks on Mondays from 7:30pm to 9:00pm beginning January 29 and ending March 11 (no class February 19)
- Add on a beginner starter kit for $20 which includes a crochet hook, 2 balls of yarn, stitch markers, a yarn needle and a pair of scissorsÂ
- Limited seating - only 10 spaces available - reserve your seat to avoid disappointment
- We will be at the Strathcona County Museum & Archives. There is no food and drink available for purchase, please feel free to bring your own (all drinks must be in sealable leak-proof containers please!)
- Parking is available at the venue
To purchase tickets - please visit the first event date (January 29) - or click here:Â
You will require the following supplies:
- Crochet hook (recommended for beginners is a 5mm "size H" hook)
- Yarn (recommend a cotton or acrylic, medium weight, in a light color)
- Scissors
- Pen / Notebook*
- Yarn Needle
- Stitch Markers
- Receive most of these items in our "beginner supply kit" as an add on to your ticket price for an additional $20 (* the pen/notebook is not included in the starter kit* )
Note - the first class on Monday, January 29 will be for beginners - we will cover how to hold a hook and start a foundation chain.Â
Step 2 and more intermediate / advanced crocheters will work on their own projects in a social setting and will not receive individual instruction (as Kirsten will be working with our brand new beginners).Â
